I am looking for up to 3 collaborators for a performance work that will be part of a new installation titled ‘Limbinal Mappings’ which explores remembered experiences of place, and considers the personal geographies of our daily movements.

The project will include research and development, and creation between March and June 2022, with the work premiering at Hidden Door Festival in Edinburgh between June 9th and 18th (specific performance dates and times within the festival are to be confirmed).

I am  looking initially for collaborators who are available February 28th – March 5th for a period of research and development at The Work Room, with further rehearsal dates to be confirmed.

If interested please get in touch by email by February 5th with a little bit about yourself, and your dance/movement experience.  Relevant CVs and/or links to video footage are also welcome but not essential. gwynne.bilski@gmail.com

*All rehearsals and performances between March and June 2022 will take place in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Limbinal Mappings is an interactive and interdisciplinary installation with movement-based performance. Featuring a series of maps -large scale ink and embroidery drawings on mesh textiles- suspended throughout the space-, and accompanied by 'pop-up' performances as well as written and visual cues or prompts, the installation offers audiences and viewers an opportunity to explore and engage with remembered experiences of place, and to consider the personal geographies of our daily movements.

Using movement to engage with conceptual elements of place, I am interested in involving the body in looking at and understanding location, and going beyond looking at the site of physical location in hopes of developing a deeper connection to, and understanding of place on the part of my collaborators and audiences/viewers.  Limbinal Mappings continues my ongoing research into ‘Place-Specificity in Choreographic Practice’. The resulting work is not site specific however it de- or re-contextualizes and reconstructs experiences of Place - conceptual elements of place are brought to the forefront, and memories are reinhabited and re-embodied.

Pay: £500p/week for the period of February 28th - March 5th 2022, with further rehearsal and performance pay to be agreed based on mutually determined availability and scheduling from Hidden Door Festival.

*All pay will align with current ITC rates of pay as a minimum.
